It is locally known as Pirganj Jami Mosque. It is common that around 1689, a zamindar built this mosque for a spiritual religious saint named Shah Afu, who lives here. This saint was buried beside the mosque.
The ancient mosque was a small mosque. It was a one-domed square mosque. Salat can be performed only in two rows. But now it is a large mosque. Though the mosque's enlargement was extended in 1925, the main structure of its ancient mosque has the same as before. Currently, there are three dome of this mosque. Two of the domes are on the roof of the mosque and there is only one mosque on the mihrab. A dome built on Mehrab is a unique construction technique. This is not seen in Bangla.
The mosque is about 2 kilometers away from Chuadanga district town. Auto rickshaw can be used as a vehicle to go to Thakurpur from anywhere in the city. Even if you say Pirganj Jami Mosque, everyone can recognize it. The place is located at Jhenaidah Road from Chuadanga. This mosque will be seen on the side of Thakurpur road.
